A Loyal Bulldog
Mark Jarrett
Mark Jarrett, LA’84, has been a loyal Drake alumnus since he graduated from Drake with a bachelor’s degree in physics in 1984.
Mark has volunteered for the College of Arts and Sciences, the Drake alumni office, and the physics department. He was a season ticket holder for the Drake men’s basketball team for 20 years, even while living in Minnesota. In addition, he has given to Drake every year since his graduation.
His giving has been driven primarily by his major at Drake and his student involvement as a manager for the Drake men’s basketball team with gifts to projects like the Science Connector Building and Shivers Basketball Practice Facility, in addition to support for The Drake Fund and Bulldog Club. He has also supported the Department of Theatre Arts—an interest inspired by his mother’s love of Broadway musicals and role as a church musician.
Most recently, Mark made an estate gift to create the Mark J. Jarrett Professorship in Physics. Mark says he wanted to invest in Drake faculty because he knows faculty members do a “tremendous job” while balancing multiple priorities.
“This gift will give the physics department the ability to excel in the areas of student experience and professional teaching and research,” he says.
